The quality of workmanship and manufacturing are immediately evident.

Working in bike shops for the last 10 years, I’ve built up my fair share of sweet new rides, everything from a kids first run bike all the way to full custom dream machines. This time I was lucky enough to work with the team from Light Bicycle North America to build a beautiful full custom Journey, and from this “The Silver Bullet” was born! Alongside the frame we built an absolutely stunning set of Braided WR40 rims to Chris King R45D hubs laced with BERD spokes.

The quality of workmanship and manufacturing are immediately evident as soon as you lift the frame from the box. The fit and finish of the Journey frame and fork matches what I’ve seen from many top frame manufacturers in the industry today. Along with the customer service team at LBNA, the frame itself was also a treat to work with, the internal cable routing worked flawlessly on the first try and all components were fitted with little to no fuss and fit exactly as intended!

LB was also quite smart to incorporate the D-Shape steerer tube into the fork/headtube design to allow for fully internally routed cables.

It’s pretty awesome that the Journey comes with a light weight carbon seatpost right out of the box, but what gets me even more excited is the full internal dropper routing! This is a great feature for anyone that wants to ride some single track on this beast or if you’re willing to forgo the seat pack for the ease of use of a dropper seatpost on long gravel/adventure rides. Although my personal favorite feature of the frame would have to be the threaded BB, being a mechanic I value this very much for ease of maintenance as well as longevity of the bearings and the frame itself. LB was also quite smart to incorporate the D-Shape steerer tube into the fork/headtube design to allow for fully internally routed cables, because c'mon who doesn’t love clean lines with not a cable in sight?

I also love that the Journey has so many mounting options.

I also love that the Journey has so many mounting options so that you can take everything from a water bottle to a sleeping bag and everything in between! With 11 different mounting points and capacity for full wrap fenders this rig seems to have defined itself as a gravel/bikepacking/adventure mule, but don’t let that fool you. The relative conservative geometry of the Journey along with the clearance for upto 50c tires make this the ultimate ride for any road anywhere. All you have to do is enjoy the Journey, and love the ride!
