Hook is for road riders who value aerodynamic gains and mostly ride on smoother roads. If you plan to run high pressure, then a hooked/clincher rim is a safe bet.

Hookless is for those who are running wider tires, lower pressures, or are riding on rougher roads. You will benefit from a more comfortable ride due to the higher volume and increased impact protection. Gravel riders and cyclocross riders are often in this situation.

Both hook and hookless rims are built using the same dimensions and materials.

Non Disc - High TG Surface: Rim Brake 700C road rims use an advanced High TG resin system with a layer of graphene to help dissipate heat. The braking power and reliability is significantly improved over a basalt braking surface.

Non Disc - Grooved Graphene Surface: Our new resin system and construction method, combined with the 3k rim track, withstands over 280°C, dissipates heat, and lowers rim temperatures faster in between braking efforts. Gain confidence-inspiring brake performance on the steepest descents and wettest conditions with our matching brake pads. Also, graphene added to the rim brake track allows for greater resistance to overheating with improved heat dissipation and reduced temperature accumulation during heavy braking. The grooved track helps evacuate trapped moisture between pad and rim in wet conditions, and brings more resistance and force at the lever when conditions are dry.

Full Custom: This option (if provided here to choose) offers custom braking track in other various weaves (UD/12K/3K twill etc) with 1-2 weeks LONGER on manufacture and extra $10USD/rim only as a start (with High TG Surface by default). Disc: The disc version does not have a rim brake track and features a unique disc specific layup process. Our new layup is about 10g ~30g lighter by reducing the unnecessary material and utilizing elements of our Flyweight construction method.

Center Channel Hole This is a required option.

With Access Holes: This is the traditional method. Spoke access holes are drilled in the center channel to allow the nipples to easily be fed through the rim. Tubeless tape is required to seal the rim.

No Access Holes: No spoke access holes are drilled in the center channel. Feeding the nipples through the rim is more challenging, but it allows for a tubeless setup without the need for tape. This kind of system is known as "road tubeless" and was made popular by Mavic. Some companies still refer to it as "UST style", however, UST is actually a specific interface between the tire and rim which was developed by a partnership between Mavic, Michelin, and Hutchinson.

Currently, rims with 'No Access Holes' do not work with our carbon spokes.

Drain Hole This is a required option.

The two small drain holes located 90° to the valve hole effectively help evacuate both the water trapped inside the rim and the air leaking into the rim chamber caused by nonperfect tubeless tape sealing handwork that may risk rim explosure in an aggressive tire inflating.

It is the small reinforced layer prelaminated on the area where the drain hole is drilled later that makes the rim strength fairly ensured without any compromise of weight added.

Riders who ride in wet areas are suggested to order rims with drain holes.

Decal This is a required option.

Road rims use super light waterslide decals (matte colors). The decal is very thin and applied under a clearcoat so they are non-removeable.

Valve Stem This is a required option.

We use a lightweight black alloy anodized valves with an oversized concave collar for easy gripping. A rubber o-ring goes in between the rim and the collar to help seal the rim and match the contour of the rim profile. The valve core is removable so you can add sealant without removing your tire.

Gary : Love these wheels! Very light and strong, built with sapim cx ray straight pull spokes and Novatec hubs. I use these mainly for winter use, in the wind, and for wet roads... and hill climbs as they are so light, good all-rounders. I use deep section wheels for long flat summer rides. Tubeless tyres fit perfectly, not too tight not too loose. The grooved graphene brake surface works really well in the wet and the dry and make a great sound when braking.. no need to get an expensive heavy disk brake bike with harsh ride quality. I weigh 80kg for reference (sprinter) Great price, excellent quality, perfect, will buy another deeper set soon.

Which finish will you go for? Also attaching the decals for your ref, not sure what color you want to see. The decal on the photo is the most popular color "stealth". Hi Sebastin, Lighter version certainly means sacrificed some strength and impact resistance of the rim. Are you sure you want to make a lighter version? Hi Seabastian, The recommended rider weight is under 90kg. As for the brake track. The RR36C02 is using our new high TG resin technology, which can bear the 240-degree heat. The default weave is 3K (same as your first picture shows). You can customize the brake track weave if you like, both standard or CNC carving pattern like the second picture shows. Note that we will charge extra for customized brake track. Let me know if you need a customized the brake track pattern. Better to provide the graphic for the pattern if possible. Hi, Do you guys build with hubs other than 240s and bitex? I was looking at a tune king/kong or newmen gen 2 centrelock hubs for some 35mm deep rims. Also at 72kgs, is 24/24 ample for road bike dise use? Cheers

Hi Dave, Of course, we can build with road disc wheelset with Tune KingKong, Hope, Chris King, Extralite(lightweight), Carbon-Ti(lightweight), Hope, etc. Which would you like? Here're some quotes for your reference. The wheelset is USD1064.4/pair built with RR36C02(36mm deep, 28mm wide) or RRU35c02(25mm wide). Hi Michael, The Pro road series is under development, it will apply the same black Tek as the MTB Recon Pro series. So they will have the same rim surface (organic carbon texture). It will be around 32mm wide road rims, currently, we still haven't got the rim weight information about new road disc series from our engineer team. I will contact you when it is ready. But if you want a non-disc version, the rim will be ordered to produce, and ship from China. We can discuss more by mail. Hi, Marvin 1. Yes, the "non-removable black waterslide graphic" is the one you saw from the photos. We stock the RR36C02 (28mm wide, 36mm deep) road rims with this decal on. You may also notice that it's glossy. Yes, the stocked rims are with glossy decals. 2. This decal is available at China warehouse as well, but not online though. I've done a few rides on these now. RR36C02 with Dt240 disc fitted with Conti Force and Attack tyres 25/23. Happy and the profile with the 23 on the front is nice. The transition from tyre to rim is a nice shape.

Which nipples do you recommend for these rims? Are washers required?

Hi Samuel, Normally, we use sapim proyax secure lock nipples for our bike wheels. We do not use nipple washers here for building wheels. The spoke holes’ wall strength is strong enough. But if you insist to use nipple washers, it is okay if you do not mind weight adding. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello, do you also plan a rim with 30mm outside and 21mm inside? The aerodynamic optimum is a rim that is 5 to 10 percent wider than the tire. A Continental 4000S II 25mm tire is 28.5mm wide on a rim with 21mm inside, so 30mm outside would be perfect. With 23mm inside, the tire will be even wider, so that would not match. Thanks!

Hello, maybe you could do the 30mm wide rim hookless with 23mm inside (for wider tires that will be no problem) and a hooked version with 21mm inside for people who want to run 25mm tires for best aerodynamics and crosswind stability. Thanks!
