New freehub system - Ratchet EXP (first available on the top tier 180S). Compared to the old 240 with the original Star Ratchet system (still used in 350S), the revamped 240 is lighter, stiffer, easier to maintain, more durable, and engages faster.

Star Ratchet VS Ratchet EXP
The star ratchet system requires two conical springs to push two ratchets against each other. The teeth of ratchets are well oriented so that they engage in one direction while sliding over each other with the teeth tip to tip when freewheeling. Ratchet EXP is the 2.0 version of this simple, elegant, and time-tested system.
Star Ratchet VS Ratchet EXP
The star ratchet system requires two conical springs to push two ratchets against each other. The key improvement of the Ratchet EXP system is fewer moving parts. It removes one spring by fixing the inboard ratchet into the ring that threads into the hub shell.
The reduced number of components contribute to weight loss but also the increased axle stiffness as the bearing width is maximized. The drive-side bearing moves outboard and sits inside the threaded ring. EXP freehubs are in both regular bearings and ceramic. 180 hubs come with ceramic and 240 come with regular stainless steel bearings but they are interchangeable.

Pricing & Availability
DT Swiss offers the 240 EXP hubs for both mountain and road uses, supporting all major axle standards and brake interfaces. At our warehouses, we only keep the most popular axle sizes and spoke head type in stock (see the charts), but feel free to contact us or let us know in the checkout notes if you want a special order.
Please note that all EXP freehubs will work on all EXP hubs. For example, you can use a "mountain" XDR freehub on a "road" hub, so long as they are both EXP versions. Non-EXP and EXP freehubs and hub parts are not interchangeable.
We offer these hubs only as part of the LB wheelsets, not as a hubset separately.
Global Warehouse Stock List
DT 240 SP boost hubs for mountain bikes are available at our Global warehouse NOW! The road type will arrive by mid-June at the latest, but you can book a pair now. At our Global warehouse, the new 240s retail at $466 per set no matter what types you choose.
North American Warehouse Stock List (ETA July)
The NA warehouse will inventory the below items. They also have access to transfer over hubs from the Global warehouse as needed. At our North American warehouse, the new 240s cost $506 a pair.
